She taught me that Lynwood takes care of its own. I'm Mishaun Watkins. I was born and raised here, attended El Camino College, and earned my Political Science degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills. As an AmeriCorps law fellow, I helped families navigate the courts and saw how much local government shapes daily life. For the past decade I've done that work across Los Angeles and Orange counties: public housing, public safety, parks and recreation, and homeless services. Today, as a Community Development Analyst for the City of Santa Ana, I manage millions in grant funding and programs that helped reduce the city's homeless count by nearly 200 people. Since 2025, I've served as your Lynwood Planning Commissioner, where I pushed to update outdated income limits so more families qualify for rent assistance. I'm running because Lynwood families deserve a City Council that spends every dollar where residents can see it. As your Councilmember, I'll work to keep our neighborhoods safe, bring jobs and small businesses back to our commercial corridors, address homelessness, and expand housing our families can afford. I humbly ask for your vote. <br dir=\"auto\">Learn more: MishaunforLynwood.com.</p><p dir=\"auto\"></p>","editTs":"2026-09-29T20:21:28.051962","language":"EN","status":4,"contestId":10477,"electionId":4348,"candidateId":26516,"publishedBy":69,"statementId":60776,"createdBy":69,"lastChangeBy":69,"publicCandidate":null}]
