My wife and I grew up in Downey. For nearly 20 years, I have served through Gangs Out Of Downey, Kiwanis, DJAA, and WDLL.
As Mayor and Councilmember, I brought stability back to City Hall—staff noted my term was \"one of the most active and engaged in recent history.\"
Priorities:
- Fiscal Responsibility & Accountability: Chaired the budget subcommittee, delivering Downey's 14th consecutive balanced budget. Voted against Council pay increases and opposed extending term limits.
- Public Safety & Health: Full support for Police and Fire. Initiated Downey's first Men's Mental Health Awareness Fair and first Non-Profit Summit to connect families with support.
- Small Businesses & Culture: Spearheaded a CUP tiered fee structure cutting red tape. Advocated for family-friendly establishments and diverse dining options. Brought the LA Philharmonic to Downey and supported the Downey Symphony and Arts Coalition.
- Community Outreach & Leadership: Attentive to resident concerns, working directly with staff to install needed stop signs. Active leadership on SELACO Workforce Development, ICA, LA County Services Commission, Veterans and Downtown Downey subcommittee, and DFEO Board.
